Architektur Preis Stipendium Land Salzburg 2012-2013

 

The project 'Tangible Data' is part of the research Cellular Complexity and was developed for the Architektur Preis Land Salzburg scholarship and exhibited at the Intiative Architecture in Salzburg 2013. Julia Koerner researches diital architecture and digital fabrication methotologies. She is specialised on 3D printing and robotic technology. Within 'Tangible Data' she explores cellular complex structures and their underlying mathematical algorithms. Special 3D software allows her to rebuild such structures in the computer and recreate  them with additive manufacturing technologies. 3D printing allows her to make these complex geometries tangible on a larger scale.The technology is mainly used in medical and automotive industry. Julia Koerner explores how 3D printing can be apploed on architectural prototypes.

 

Julia Körner beschäftigt sich mit den Themen Digitale Architektur und den zugehörigen numerischen Fertigungsmethoden, im speziellen mit der Komplexität zellulärer Strukturen und deren grundlegenden mathematischen Algorithmen. Spezielle 3D-Software ermöglicht es diese Systeme digital nach zubauen, visualisieren und anschließend durch additive 3D-Druckverfahren greifbar zu machen. Diese neue Technologie, findet bisher vorwiegend für die Endproduktion in der Medizin und in der Automobilbranche Anwendung. In dem Projekt „Tangible Data“ wendet Julia diese Herstellungsmethode auf die Umsetzung Architektonischer Prototypen an.
